This large collection consists of personal and professional correspondence, bills and receipts, copies of published articles and books, manuscripts of published and unpublished works including novels, plays, poems, and short stories, photographs, scrapbooks, maps, clippings, postcard albums, microfilm, a filmstrip, sheet music, research materials, and other items related to Uhler's professional life. Dr. John Uhler, a native of Media, Pennsylvania, was educated at Johns Hopkins University. He taught at Johns Hopkins and in Bowling Green, Kentucky. While teaching in Baltimore, Uhler also worked for the Baltimore Sun newspaper and became acquainted with fellow journalist, H. L. Mencken.
